Woodenware is a family of trays, boxes and organizers whose function and proportions are driven by the interplay between two geometric primitives - the square and the circle. The work was imagined during an intensive three-day research trip to Hancock Shaker Village in Pittsfield, MA organized by Studio Gorm. The trip’s output was the basis for the exhibition ‘Furnishing Utopia’ that examined the influence of American Shaker life, work and objects on contemporary design.

About Furnishing Utopia
Furnishing Utopia is an independent design collective that underscores the influence of Shaker design on modernist furniture and interiors, while providing context for many of the materials, colors, and silhouettes so predominant in the present-day global design community. Led by Oregon-based Studio Gorm, 14 international design studios have created more than 55 original objects for exhibitions in New York and Stockholm.
